Funeral Fog
Seriously glad to see this band get signed to such a great label! This EP is a top notch mix of epic doom, death-doom and a bit of thrash metal.

Why were you taken away from us so soon?
Why were you taken away from me so soon?
We survived the orphanage,
Were hunted by a blasphemous nun,
And we told ourselves, for now and forever…
“NEVERMORE THIS PAIN”
Landscape of Sorrow
Landscape of Sorrow
Years later, cancer came
And you fought like an insane.
But you didn’t lose the fight,
Because he died right by your side.
I’ve lost my brother,
But God gained a brave warrior.
We will carry you in our hearts
And we will carry sorrow through every landscape.
We survived the orphanage,
Were hunted by a blasphemous nun,
And we told ourselves, for now and forever…
“NEVERMORE THIS PAIN”
Landscape of Sorrow
Landscape of Sorrow
Can you see it too?
All these butterflies flying in the late afternoon?
In circles, squares and triangles
hearing their mindless mingles.
Over the colourful fields
which bloom so bright it hurts my ears.
But why my ears?
Is the sun even real?
I'm feeling like Ikarus so free
But I can't escape
And it seems so late.
The butterflies are falling to the ground
Making crazily weird sounds.
It's like pink, red, blue, green is screaming
Violently shaking the ceiling.
Echoing through my head, body and mind
Killing me inside.
Everything turns dark
It seems like I missed Noah's Ark.
Suddenly I'm all alone
Sitting in my messy bedroom,
Everything was just a dream
A hallucination between the realms,
And as I look onto the pills
I see a butterfly who gives me the chills.
It's like pink, red, blue, green is screaming
Violently shaking the ceiling.
Echoing through my head, body and mind
Killing me inside.
Once upon a time there was a boy
and by his surroundings, he was destroyed.
Pain over pain, zero gain
He was sure that nothing in his life would remain
They would kill him in his sleep
While he would desperately count sheep
And dream of a better life
For which he wanted to strive.
When you close your eyes
in the darkness lies
Death disguised as a lovely friend
If you don't watch out
It will reach for you
And pull you down
into the dark ghost town
And pull you down
But then one night, it got cold
He saw something on his pillow, it was mold
As he reached out
He felt a touch
He wanted to shout
Air in his lungs was not much
As he turned around, he saw its eyes
Shining in a dangerous red
Upon where he lied
At first he was scared,
as it visited him every night
And soon it became clear
That the thing had died
Its pale skin
Its long hands
The greasy hair and a voice of despair
It tried to pull the boy outside
Tried to cover his eyesight
And the boy went with his new friend
When you close your eyes
in the darkness lies
Death disguised as a lovely friend
If you don't watch out
It will reach for you
And pull you down
into the dark ghost town
And pull you down
But one day, as he became a young adult
His friend stopped visiting
He took it as an insult
As it seemed like his peaceful world was vanishing
He waited and waited, but his friend stayed away
What stayed was the mold in grey
For the first time in years, he left his house
And he regretted it yet so soon
Because what shocked him most to find
Was a grave with his name under the pale moonlight
He saw his friend waving him with his pale, translucent hand
And instructed him to follow him back to their peaceful world
And the boy followed him into the afterworld
So after all this time
He took his last breath
And followed his friend
Who was known as death.

Epic Doom Metal project by Michael Heß / Germany
" A memory for eternity"
Michael Heß dedicates these songs to his brother Markus, who, despite his strong will to fight, had to give in to cancer in 2010.
Michael wanted to create something with substance that reminded him of his brother Markus.
January 4, 2024 marks the 14th anniversary of Markus' death and on this day we will release the EP "Landscape Of Sorrow".
Born from a loving heart and created by a creative spirit, this little mini-EP "Landscape Of Sorrow" with its three songs is a precious little treasure that embodies an extremely worthy commemoration of a loved one. Despite the overall tragic and heavy subject matter, the EP surprises with a dark doom gem and two terrific energetic metal bangers! The musicians involved have realized the variably and complexly composed songs in an incredibly impressive and rousing way.

Born in 1972, Michael Heß discovered his love for metal at the age of 10, when he ran past a radio which played “I Love Rock ‘n Roll” by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. Thus, he developed a true passion also e-guitars.
Before buying his own guitar, Michael played on his late brothers guitar just for fun, without any knowledge about musical notes.
In 2003, he finally bought his first e-guitar which started a whole new era for Michael. Years of practice, fun and more followed.
In December 2022, Michael started recording demo-songs for the first time. He made it his mission to write a tribute song to his late brother Markus Heß and eventually got into touch with Gonzalo Civita from the bands HelėH, Tribal who agreed to sing to this song. Their work went really well and good memories and fun led to them establishing even more songs together.
Michaels first EP, the “Landscape of Sorrow”-EP, was released on the 9th August 2023, on Markus Heß’ birthday, given the fact it is also dedicated to him.
“All of my songs sound different, but they all tell stories. They all tell different stories, and that’s what is important to me.”

Merci Déhà for the download code. Lots of bands use these ingredients – pretty female vocals over doomy guitars always sounds good, but usually that's where the ideas run out. That isn't the case here. Each song is packed with ideas and evolutions, genres and references it's boring to list but not at all to listen to. A pleasure to have been introduced to this. Luke

Have only listened to the first three tracks so far. Somehow the indie/grunge/funereal/doom elements meld together well. Well worth a listen! 😁
Update - couldn't stop listening. No weak tracks. Music that won't stand still, but holds up well throughout. My favourite non-electronic release for some time. Thanks so much for the code! 😎 Rinchen Choesang

These Serbs show that Death/Doom is still not only enjoyable, but still has room to breathe and grow. While these guys most definitely are heavily influenced by the best the British and Finnish offered the genre, they twist around ever so slightly in a way that is familiar yet fresh. 3.5/5 ClassyMusicSnob
